Court representation and writing pleadings
Polish courts review several million of cases per year and the number is still increasing. It is getting more and more difficult to meet a person who has never been to court. Contrary to certain claims, the reason for the growing number of lawsuits is not the litigiousness of Poles. Due to the growing legal awareness, we simply realize that in certain cases seeking solutions to our problems in court is the most appropriate option.
Moreover, we have become more courageous in decision making, we care about our affairs, even when dealing with family members. Besides, the development of economy and new advanced technologies makes us co-operate, sign contracts and make transactions with individuals and companies found on the Internet, whose credibility is impossible to verify.
This may lead to disputes which frequently have to be settled in court.
Our private lives have become more complicated in terms of the legal status. The number of divorces is growing, and this in turn, is associated with division of assets, alimony, child custody cases.
The factors mentioned above and many others suddenly force us to file a lawsuit in court. Another scenario might be receiving a lawsuit from court, or even the ruling itself which has been made without our presence, if someone filed a lawsuit against us.
What is the course of action in such a situation? First of all, stay calm and accept any mail deliveries from courts. Without accepting the correspondence, we put ourselves at a disadvantage, because we simply do not know what is happening. Therefore, we cannot respond in any way or defend ourselves. Refusing to accept mail delivery will not stop the legal proceedings. If you do not understand the content of the court letter or you do not know how to respond, definitely seek advice from a lawyer. You should not count on the assistance of the court (the judge). The court must stay impartial and you can be certain that it will. Respecting deadlines is particularly important.
